Consulting & professional education
Mathematical modeling, decision science, and data science instruction for research groups, companies, and public-sector organizations.
WHO I WORK WITH
Clients
I work with research groups, companies, and public-sector organizations that have a decision or scientific question ordinary analysis has not answered. The models we build are mechanistic rather than black-box: their parameters stand for processes the system actually carries out, so a fit tells you why the data look the way they do, not only what comes next.
I have worked with organizations in energy, consumer products, and technology, and applied data science to neuroscience research. I have taught multiday data science courses to professionals at government agencies and private banks. I was a founding instructor of CU Boulder Tech Frontiers, an executive training program that worked with Fortune 500 companies.
WORK I TAKE
Typical engagements
- Run a two-day course on decision making, learning, mathematical modeling, or data science.
- Consult on budget, program, or space allocation design.
- Generate model-based predictions from survey or polling data.
- Identify strategies people use to make decisions and predict their future decisions.
- Test the impact of different hierarchical organization on group decision making processes.
CONTACT
Consulting inquiries
I take a small number of engagements each year, and do not take general data analysis, dashboard or reporting work, or introductory training an in-house team could run. Most projects run 30 to 60 hours, such as a two-day workshop (including development) or a project engagement running from consultation through data analysis and model development to a written report and a presentation to your team.
Describe the question, your current approach, and what a useful outcome would look like. If it looks like a fit, the next step is a free 20–30 minute call.
Academic collaborations are welcome and are a separate conversation: please email me directly.
